I put the NNTP and SMTP names of my ISP into Free Agent, but I still can't get the spamcop newsgroups. The spamcop page says to try configuring the reader manually and states that their server is news.spamcop.net. So, how do I configure it manually? Or, if it would be easier I'd be willing to download another newsreader if you know of one that works with spamcop groups. Thanks.

You need to use "news.spamcop.net" as your nntp server.

However, FreeAgent (and Agent) cannot handle multiple servers, and if you wish to use another news server (such as your ISP's) you will have to manually configure multiple instances of FreeAgent or use a local news server such as Hamster.

If you are considering a switch xnews is a decent alternative. Xnews is primarily an online newsreader.

    Xnews (freeware)

Thanks, Tranquilo. Using spamcop's server worked, but I can only get their newsgroups which is OK because I don't read any others at this time anyway. I decided not to use the Xnews software because I'm still stuck in the dark ages of dial-up and prefer to read off-line.
