    The past couple of weeks I've noticed that when FORWARDING some messages, it does not send the entire email. For example I attempted to forward one today that had several images. I tried several times and even tried to forward it to myself. The images and the text did not come through. Just the headers.

    I wouldn't have realized this was happening except folks kept writing and saying they received nothing.

    I had no luck copying and pasting because of the images. On the other hand if I clicked on "reply ", deleted the original sender's address and entered the ones I wanted it all went in its entirety.

    Once again I checked all the settings in the Preferences area and could find nothing that I thought would affect this issue.

    It may be the ISP, which does it to cut down on spam. I have been receiving e-mails which had hundreds of addressees, with just an image or two.
    I, personally, never Forward. I use the same technique as yours. It seems to work all the time.
    I don't know if the limitations apply to HTML mail or also plain text.
    My question is this only with Netscape and related programs, or does it include OE. And, does it work, at all if you send the e-mail as an attachment?

    vegaspat,

    To add to Westside's comments: were the attachments you sent to yourself, or friends, in excess of the ISP limit? Are the friends not receiving the attachments using OE or Netscape?

    Under View, there is a setting for viewing attachments Inline, or if disabled, attachments are viewed as attachments.

    Also, in Edit | Preferences | Mail & Newsgroups | Composition
    there is a setting for forwarding messages Inline or as Attachments

    If for any reason the file/folder from which you sent the last attachment no longer exists, then you must edit the prefs.js file, e.g.,:

    user_pref( "mail.compose.attach.dir ", "/home ");
    TO
    user_pref( "mail.compose.attach.dir ", "C:\\Images\\2006 ");

    I've never had a problem sending attachments in Netscape, so am unable to duplicate your problem.

    Ramona,
    I don't think that the issue is the sending of attachments, but, rather Forwarding e-mails. Cut/Paste an image does not work unless associated with a webpage, but I have been able to send images saved on my hard drive, as part of the e-mail.

    Westside,

    Yes, I understand the problem is forwarding a message containing attachments. But as I can't duplicate the problem, I'm trying to cover all the bases.

    One of my thoughts was if her friends are using Netscape and their settings are to view Forwarded attachments as attachments, then there would be nothing in the message body, which is what vegaspat is reporting. Plus, I was listing all settings I could think of that would include not only viewing forwarded attachments, but viewing any attachments. :)

    Well, while waiting for a response I tried to see if there was any pattern to this issue. So far it appears that two instances of this happening were when I received emails from this one provider.

    These two messages which I could NOT forward as received but could "reply" and accomplish what I had always been able to before were from former co-workers who use the SSM ISP. (ssmhc.com) This is a large health care entity here in my area.

    I called my ISP and explained in detail the problem and they had no ideas. Apparently the SSM firewall or spam control was not the problem because my friends could send out the huge image messages and could receive them if I used the reply option vs the forward option.

    I will check out your suggestions and see that helps.

    Thanks.

    BTW, I don't have a limit set on my ISP end and I don't really know what browser the SSMHC.com folks use. IE? I rarely use IE.
