I used to be able to tell my software (Quicken) to do its backup to my CD drive and when I reinstalled XP, I seeme to have lost that ability. The backup cannot find a writable CD there.

However, today I stumbled on the "Format Disc" that is formatting the CD for writing and I think that is what I had to have BUT I don't know how I got there.

What burning software are you using? Think you will need to use packet writing software like InCd - use this to format a CD-RW which, when mounted will be seen as a drive.

Seem to recall that Adaptec EasyCD (?) - now Roxio had a facility to format a CD - not CD-RW - which would be seen as a disk by Windows. AFAIK this facility is not available in Nero.

InCD is Nero's packet writing feature...comes with Nero 6 Ultra.

Direct CD is Adaptec Easy CD Creator's packet writing.

If you're using either of those, tenbob, look on your Start menu for it and the packet writing software should be in a sub-folder of whichever one you have.
