    Hi all--

I have decided to reset my screen resolution from 800X600 to 1024X726. I was able to resize my fonts on my opening pages of my programs and such, but when I use the program, such as Outlook, the messages appear extremely small. Once they're open I know I can zoom in on them, but how can I change the size of these other fonts. Another example is QuickBooks. The header files read nice and large (because I increased the size) but if I am using a file, it's still very small.

Thanks for any help. Happy Holidays, too!!

I think your options may well be, get a larger monitor or go back to the lower resolution. That's why a lot of us old fogies stay with 800X600, because we need it. :) I have a 17" monitor and 1024X726 is still a trifle small for my liking.

Cheers and Happy Holidays right back at you.

I'm using a 17 ", too. And I was wondering if I'm fighting a losing battle with Mother Nature on this one. My eyes probably can't appreciate the subtlies any way :)

    Maybe all is not lost.

If you don't have a wheel mouse, get one.

If you have a wheel mouse, many programs (especially including IE/OE/MSWord/MSExcel and others respond well to holding down the ctrl key and rolling the wheel. Will resize your text view size nicely.

With IE, it also helps me to go to the accessibility tab and tell it to ignore font sizes and styles on web pages. With 99% of the pages, I get a much easier-to-read typeface that I can resize quickly and easily.

FWIW, I'm 58. Eyes are about normal for my age which means not so pretty good any longer. Home I run 1024x768 on a 15" monitor and work I run 1280x1024 on a 17" flat panel. Works great. 8 hours a day on the work PC too.

I'd also suggest a visit to the Microsoft Cleartype Tuner page. Turn on cleartype, play with the options (which will reset your display for you) and you can really make it easier to read. More so on the flat panel / LDC screens but worth doing on a regular CRT. AFAIK, the cleartype stuff can only be done from this web site. Nothing on my PC to allow the adjustments.

    Thanks!

Thanks Newt. I knew on one of my programs I could roll and resize but I had no idea on most other programs it would work. I've also gone to the cleartype page. Thanks for that too.
