Am using Windows XP home edition. Have all current service packs and security patches. When using my login (have 4 uers accounts, all administrators), I keep seeing IE6 resetting the font size from what I set it to, back to medium. I have even used regedit and watched the only "fontsize" parameter I could find being reset from smallest to medium when closing down IE 6 browser windows.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\International\Scripts\3 "IEFontSize "
    Old type: REG_BINARY
    New type: REG_BINARY
    Old data: 02, 00, 00, 00 (medium)
    New data: 00, 00, 00, 00 (smallest, which is what I want)

Every time I shutdown WIndows XP and bring it back up, login as my account, and use IE6, I see the font size back to medium.

I can change it to smallest, but then if I launch a new browser window from the current browser window (or if some web site opens a new browser window), the font size gets reset back to medium.

I can change it back to smallest, close all IE 6 windows, launch new ones, and it sticks, but as soon as I shutdown, or logoff, it is back to medium.

Anyone know of a way to keep the font size from being reset? The registry entry doesn't make a lot of sense, since I am not "international ", so I wonder if there might be another place that needs an entry. The one I listed is the only occurrence of "fontsize ".

I used the zdnet utility called InCntrl5 to snapshot the system before and after I changed the fontsize, so I could determine exactly what got changed.

Try this as per Microsoft's Accessibility site:

Turning Off Default Font Settings :

Open IE, go to tools->internet option->general tab->accessibility->and put a check in "ignore font sizes specified on web pages "

*note*- I tried it and it worked for me!

There were also a couple of other suggestions I came across while searching- You're default setting may actually be specified in your email program (Outlook or Outlook Express)

    Hope this helps!

It is not a good idea to be logged in as an administrator when doing routine surfing and email. Malicious code can be run and do lots of damage because you've left a door open. Only one account should be set up with Admin Access, and only logged in when necessary to change settings, do maint. or install new software. To change this go to control panel, user accounts and follow the prompts.
