There are a continually growing list of folders under My Network Places. Many of them are linked to folders on my computer, not others on our network. Any help?

Do you have 'offline folders' enabled?

    Thanks, Newt.

Tried to ascertain if Off-line files were enabled by going to Folder_Options>Tools>Offline Files tab. This folder had a message: "Off-line Files: remote desktop is configured to support multiple connections. Off-line files cannot be enabled with remote desktop in this configuration"

Removed the other 1 Remote User (didn't reboot) but still get the above message. So I can't really say.

You probably don't have the offline thing enabled then. I have heard of occasional problems like yours from that source but sounds like not.

In theory the only folders that can be placed in that location are shares. You can place shortcuts to shares on your local PC as well as network PCs but if a file/folder isn't shared it isn't supposed to be possible to put the shortcut there. Is this what you are seeing?

Also, with a right-click and click on properties you can find out creation time/date. Anything interesting there? Always at 00:05 or always on Monday or ....? And if you delete one, does it come back?

Chuck - sorry I couldn't come up with any specific cause but please update the thread after you've deleted some of them and watched for a while.

If you see some old shortcuts reappear or some new ones and you notice soon after it happens you might be able to remember some thing you did that might create them.
