In Windows 2000 Professional, I can not get the folder view option to stick. When I open My Computer, I get a single pane view of the partitions/hard drives available. What I want to see is the folder tree in the left pane and the folders on the right pane. This makes transferring files so much easier. If I click on the Folders button on the toolbar, I get what I want. I would like to make this the default view so I don't have to hit the Folders button every time. I have tried changing the setting in View|Explorer Bar and Tools|Folder Options, but it never sticks once I close out of Explorer. Each time I start it up, I have to change the setting. Hopefully, I have explained it correctly. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Mike,

Did you say you already went into Tools-Folder Options, then View tab and selected Like Current Folder? If not, try that. That should set the default to whatever the existing folder properties are.

If you've already tried that, then I'm stumped too.

    visionquest,

Thanks for the suggestion. I double checked and that option is checked. There has to be a solution out there some place, I hope.

    Mike,

Maybe we are talking about two different things. You said in your last post that "I double checked and that option is checked ". What I am talking about is not some kind of radio button or option to be checked off. It is a button you can click on to set the default.

In Explorer, if you select Tools, then Folder Options, then select the View tab, there is a button that says "Like Current Folder ". If you click that button, it should set the default to the settings of the current folder.

    Steve,

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't tried anything like that before and I'm not sure where to start to do it. Can you give me some instructions? I'll probably kick myself for not knowing, but I had to ask.

    Steve,

That did the trick for getting what I need. I don't why the View setting won't hold, but as long as I have the shortcut I'll be fine. Thanks.
