I have Vista Ultimate installed and one thing is driving me crazy (well almost) I want all of my folders to appear as follows:
Detail View showing - Name-Size-Type-Date Modified and nothing else.

I have selected Tools/Folder Options/View and pressed on "Apply to all folders" but this does nothing some folders show small icons while some show large icons I even have folders containing data (no music files or images) and it will show Track No-Artist etc, who wants that rubbish for data files.

I have also ticked the box marked "Remember each folders view settings "

In XP Pro it was perfect I could set to the "Details View" and then change folder settings as and when I wanted.

Am I missing something, any guidance would be appreciated.

    Hello Paul,

Name-Size-Type-Date Modified is the defualt on mine and have no trouble with adding Create Date for instance and having it stick.

Have you tried the reset folders in the View tab?

Have you tried Use Windows Classic Folders in the General tab?

    Regards - Charles

Thanks for the reply, I have tried the various options but it is still the same and I know of 3 other Vista installs that are exactly the same, in that you tell it to "Remember this view" for all folders (same type of content) with just data files as opposed to music or images and some folders will be in "list view" some with "icons" and some that are in details but with the headings all wrong, I had one folder that was just data files and the headings showed "Author ", "Track" etc what is going on.

They got this wrong in Windows 95 and 98 cured it in windows XP then destroyed it in Vista.......

I did rant on a bit, sorry for that was getting frustrated, anyway have found a cure to make (most) of the views to be in details is to go to Organize / Properties / Customize Then "Use this folder as a template" In my case I selected "All Items" from here you can also select other types of content and adjust as required.
