I don't know. I don't really have a grasp of the user concept. Is that computer>Local Disk> Users> alicia the same location as XPs C:\

if you use "computer" from the start menu that will open something that looks something like this:

if you go to the first one (Local Disk [C:]) then within that is all of your data. :)

if you are looking for you user files they are under Local Disk [C:]/users/*your username*

    OR

just go to libraries in the right hand collumn (marked on this image)

Well c:\ could mean many different folders, one thing I like about windows is the ease of access, depends on what you are looking for?
    Music, Pic's, what ever!?
I may be missing something in the translation, but right click on the Orb, click Properties & set your prefered options!

eg: Computer> menu or shortcut (right click to options)

    The User concept can be found in XP but not as easy as in Vista & 7 but it is there! since using seven & I by-passed vista (but now have it on a rarely used desktop}

Don't think Xp, Don't think Vista, Don't think 7!, think Margaritaville!! (Sorry Alan Jackson got to me)

If this isn't of help? sorry & I hope someone else can give you more input

    Regards Jac

    In Windows 7:
    Computer\Disk Name (Drive Letter:)

On my comp I have several operating systems, thus I assign specific names to the drives, i.e. XPPro, Windows 7, Linux, etc.

On your computer, the name of your C:\ drive is Local Disk.

When I boot to XP, the path is: My Computer\XPPro (C:)\folder.
    When I boot to Win 7 the path is: Computer\Windows 7 (C:)\folder.

    My Computer on XP.
    Computer on Windows 7.

On XP, the User directory path is:
    My Computer\Drive Letter\Documents & Settings\Username

On Windows 7 the User directory path is:
    Computer\Drive Letter\Users\Username.

So if I want to make a new folder at the same level as the Win7
Downloads folder, I would put it in

    Computer\LocaldiskC\users\alicia\

    right?

    Yes.
Or go to Start > Username (top right).

Alicia, I'm still a bit lost here, are you trying to find the download folder location?
Do you use the start menu or the run command line?
Are you after the doc's folder?
How many users are on your computer? if it is just yourself then it should be easy to find
The start menu should show the download folder, as with all windows from at least XP on; you can right click the start/orb & then go to properties, add or remove the options you wish to show on your start menu!

Thanks for the images Theata. Visuals are helpful.

Jacrabit I use the run or start menu depending on what I'm doing. I know the location of the download and documents folders. Thanks for your input.

Tony thanks for clarifying the location.
