We recently tried to download a file to a floppy disk but, after a time, a message appeared advising that there was not enough space on the disk for the file.
Now when we insert the disk and try to access other files on this disk we get the following messages:

“Please insert disk in Drive A.â€

“The disk in Drive A is not formatted. Do you want to format now?â€

Is there any way to recover the files we have on this floppy?

    Thanks

Because of slight differences in the azimuth adjustments from one floppy drive to another, you may have problems accessing a floppy on one computer that was formatted on another. If the floppy was originally made on a different drive, try that drive.

You can run a chkdsk on the floppy. You are risking more damage to the data if you allow it to do repairs, but worth a try if you are out of options. A thorough, "surface" scan of the floppy will try to recover data in bad sectors, but you may simply not be able to access it at all.

It is not very likely that it will help, but you could try cleaning the drive to remove accumulated oxide deposits. Wouldn't hurt. You probably have one of those cleaning floppies kicking around.
