Have just started to get a "floating grey window" in IE8. It appears as I move my pointer over a document. Has various buttons, such as print, + & - zoom etc. I find it a distraction. How can I get rid of it.

I suggest you check your Add-ons and the options of any toolbars that you have installed - a recent toolbar update may have given you that unwanted facility.

AFAIK it is not an IE8 feature.

Thank you for that. If it's not an IE8 problem then it must be Adobe Reader.
