    Running WIN98 SE on a P-III 600MHZ w/ 810E chip on SunMicro 370SED board with built-in graphics.

Just the last week or so, every time I open a page where there is an animated banner of some sort or my Yahoo mail page (which has these things all over the place) the screen flickers like crazy until the anigif runs thru it's first showing, then settles down until I mouse over either that or another gif locaton or hit a link. Then it all does it again.

Ran memory tests and got no problems, no troubles viewing complex graphics, MPEG movies or the like... just this.

Any timps from the peanut gallery?

Yahoo is full of shockwave flash animations. How's yours doing? From within IE Toolbar>Tools>internet options>general tab>settings button>view objects....see any problems with your plugins? Since this may also involve any cache of the yahoo site, have you tried empyting IE's temp? Although why this would be effected by doing a simple mouse over beats me. I'm just throwing this out there for a look see and a possibility for consideration.

    Thanks, Goddez

Tried uninstalling Flash and Shockwave and re-installing (just in case) but no luck. Looked thru the system seting and no conflicts or missing drivers, and the video dirver are all up-to-date.

I also have one interesting thing which may or may not bear on this: I often send emails of advice or clarification to mandolin sellers on Ebay, but just since the flicker started up, I lock totally when I try to use Ebay's send-a-mail programme.

Now, I may have been using these darn machines for a long time, but when it comes to video stuff (and most other stuff, for that matter) I'm a complete idiot, so if anyone wants basic info which I have neglected, let me know and it'll be forthcoming.

(Hmmmm.... just occurred to me that I have upgraded to AVG's new 7.0 free antivirus as well, and just about the same time! I wonder if their email scanner.....)
