Untill lately I could see a flash show ( or image )when opening an internet page (if it included one). Since a week ago, flash shows don't appear. Instead, I see only a frame (where the show should appear) & an X at it's left corner. I use Windows XP Home edition & a Macromedia flash program (last version) is installed. On the otherhand, I can see other images included in a page (that might be flash images).
I'll be most grateful for any advice about mending the problem.

Hi........ I had a similar problem on my wife's hp510 with xp home.
I tried everything to beat the beast but nothing worked. When I tried to re-download flash from micromedia.com,the test page showed a red x and would not download.
I think it was my wife's incredimail program causing conflict. Over time, she was having many odd things happening to her e-mail program. Finally she received a Christmas card that she could not view because her flash did not work. I tried system restore point rollbacks, but could not get back far enough to fix it.
In exasperation,I did a system restore. Bingo....flash was back.

I had tried to uninstall incredimail itself but the damage had already been done. Outlook just couldn't read flash any more either. After the System restore I had to go up and re-download all the critical updates from MS again. If you decide to do this, Make sure you have your firewall activated BEFORE you go online after a restore or you will receive a trojan and a nachi worm almost immediately!

I have read,in these postings, that incredimail was a source of problems for some. I never use it on my hp512c and have never had flash problems. (knocking on wood!)

    Anyway....her 510 is OK now.

Don't know if my story helps you any,but at least you won't feel alone! LOL.

    Best Regards

There seem to be some issues with it. I need to reinstall it periodically--it sometimes disappears after a boot.

The automated installation does not work for me.

This may be due to some security changes in the latest version. There are also articles about problems with the web installer and XP.

In any case, download the standalone versions and install. If you still have problems, at least you have the installers so you don't need to keep redownloading from the net.

    Flash Player

    Shockwave Player
    http://sdc.shockwave.com/support/di...ne_installer/win/Shockwave_Installer_Full.zip

If you want to try uninstalling before reinstalling----->

    Uninstall Flash 6:
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flash/ts/uninstall_flash_player.exe

    Uninstall Flash 7:
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flash/ts/flash7/uninstall_flash_player.exe

Shockwave can be uninstalled in Add/Remove (they say).

In Internet Options, under the Advanced tab, be sure third-party browser extensions are enabled.

    Flash problem

    Thanks Abraxas. It's enabled already.

Meanwhile an expert refered me to a possibility that this is not a flash problem, but missing of java virtual machine. I downloaded & instlled it, but yet no change. I expressed my view ( to that expert) that may be the problem is in the site in which I found the certain page which didn't open. I asked the guy to let me know if he has any success in opening that page, but didn't get any reply yet.(the page is in this address:http://www.extreme.com/exmas/card/exmascard.html
    Thanks & happy new year

No problem with the site here. Loaded up and played just like it should.
Run some spyware removers, such as Spybot and AdAware,(do a search, links all over this bbs).

Thanks Dave. I use both programs on a day to day basis. Still, no change. I'll follow your advice regarding the search.

    re:flash show

    Hi dave,
While searching in Windows BBS as you suggested, I came to an MS site page. There they answer a common question about an internet link that opens, but one can't see a thing there. In reply they advise to open "run" & to write, seperately, 8 lines as follows: regsvr32urlmon.dll regsvr32 scrrun.dll
    regsvr32 msxml.dll
    regsvr32 mshtml.dll
    regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
    regsvr32 browseui.dll
    regsvr32 msjava.dll
    regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
When clicking OK on "run ", there should be (as they say) a note saying:
"DllRegisterServer in <file> succeededþ ". Out of those 8 lines I got that note for only 6 lines. The notes for lines 2 & 7 says: "LoadLibrary ( "msjava.dll" & "msxml.dll ") failed. The specific module could not be found ".
Trouble is, that they don't explaine how one gets those missing dll's. Got any idea? is it possible that this relates to my problem?
    Thanks, jurisam11

    re:flash show

Well friends, at the end of the way, I had to use Microsoft Support Team & they solved the problem. It was a faulty registration in the Registry Editor. When deletting it, the flash came back to life.
Anyway, thanks to those who paid attention to my call for help.
