I just bought this nice Toshiba. I use it for recording my bands on my label. After about a week of fighting with vista over using my recording interface. Everything is a go...

    EXCEPT

I need FLASH PLAYER 9 or 10 or FLASH PLAYER at all!

It's not in the programs and was on it when I first got the laptop.

So what do I do? I go to adobe and try to install...thinking it's like any other time I've updated flash...

    EXCEPT!

The ACTIVE X CONTROL doesn't pop up. In fact, nothing pops up! It's still not installed or even given the inclination it would do so...

So what do I do? I search for answers the answer apparently is to UNINSTALL FLASH and RE-INSTALL with the Adobe's Unistaller...

    EXCEPT!!!!

Nothing happens with the unistaller! No Active X Control pops up and I can't even get the set up going!

So my question is...WHAT THE HECK DO I DO! I am already at my wit's end with technology with the recording troubles and now this is just the straw that broke the recording egineer's back.

I need help. And I need help NOW! Please please PLEASE help!

I have never used VISTA and I was an XP user, I don't care about the flash and the graphics...It's not important...I just want an operating system to..oooh i don't know...OPERATE!

    Help please,
    Angel

Go the adobe flash download site
    You can google it
    Try to let it install
When done it will show you a rotating diagram to show you that it works
If it will not - then try to install manually
There are older versions of flash at oldverion.com
and an uninstaller if installation was not done correctly and the system is stuck

I tried the adobe site. and still the ACTIVE X Control doesn't pop up to ask me to install...Maybe the site is going through some changes and I had bad timing. I am trying FILE HIPPO and see how that goes.

Thanks A lot for your help guys really.

angel760: I just happen to have downloaded and installed the most recent version of Flash Player successfully earlier today, so it can be done.

I have a workaround to suggest for you that may come in handy now as well as on future occasions. Do a Google search for Secunia. Among the top items listed is Secunia's OSI (Scan Now) utility. It scans your computer in about 2 minutes and lets you know which programs are out of date, especially if they have security vulnerabilities.

Since you say you already have Flash Player installed, when you run Secunia it will provide a link that enables you to successfully download and install the latest update to it (that's what it did for me today).

From time to time the Secunia people will e-mail you their most recently revised version that lets you scan for the latest updates to keep your system up to date and safe. Their program is free and super-easy to use. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

    Good luck.
