I am very confused by these two programs and how to get them installed in SM. I have something in my plugin folder "NPSWF32.dll" which says Shockwave Flash when I put the cursor on it. How do I get Flash Player? I tried installing it from an installer but it will not install.

The Shockwave file, in your plugins folder should be np32dsw.dll, V.10.1. Not sure what it does, if present.
The Shockwave Flash Player no longer places the NPSWF32.dl file in the plugins folder. It has become a system file. In fact, having a npswf32.dll file in your plugins folder may be detrimental to the performance of Flash. I deleted all those files, but selecting about plugins shows that I have the plugin. The latest version is 9.0.r124.
By the way, this was done, among other reasons, to correct the incompatibility of the newer npswf.dll file with Netscape7.2.

Thanks Westside. Are you suggesting that I delete these files from the plugin folder because they are in the Win/Sys32/Macromedia folder?
In that folder is Flashplayer 9.0 r115 and Shockwave 10.1.4.20
How do you upgrade these versions?

Flash and Shockwave are entirely different things, even if Flash is referred to Shockwave Flash.. Flash has gone in the system files, while Shockwave has not, as far as I know.
The flash file which you refer to should work, but if you have problems, rename the file to xnpswf32.dll. Don't delete it. Then download Flash {/url]. The latest version is 9.0.124.
Shockwave v.11.0 is available. My first link is identical to broni's, but I have no clue about its second one.

    Bob,

In your C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins folder, delete the:
NPSWF32.dl file That is your Flash Player plugin from an older version and no longer needed. As Westside explained, the files for the Flash Player are now located in the Windows\System 32 folder.

The Shockwave Player file (np32dsw.dll) should not be deleted, as this is a separate plugin. Shockwave Player allows you to view interactive web content like games, business presentations, entertainment and advertisements.

Flash Player runs SWF files that can be created by the Adobe Flash authoring tool, by Adobe Flex, or by a number of other Macromedia and third party tools.

You can test both players to determine whether or not you need an upgrade:

    Ramona,
The problem is with SeaMonkey. My FF is now OK thanks to all the comments.
I think I understand it now and will try to fix SM.

So it is, and if you still continue to have problems with the players and SeaMonkey let us know.
