Copied a video from my Gateway GT5408 PC desktop running WIN Vista Home Premium, to a 16 GB Transcend micro flash drive... files in the desktop folder & the flash drive copy appear identical... video plays with no problem from the desktop file... when I try to play from the flash drive, I get alert '...Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because the disc prohibits playback in your region of the world. You must obtain a disc that is intended for your geographic region.' what's wrong?? need help.. tx

Let try > control panel >Programs and Features > upper left link to "Turn Windows Features On and Off" > Media Features then uncheck Windows Media Player and Media Center. Close all windows and reboot. Then return to the same location and check the two items you just unchecked, reboot and try again.
    Good luck

The best I recall there is a way to change the DVD region. Try control panel > Region and Language to make sure you are set to United States.

Hi jammer, It clicked! You aren't using a USB Thumb drive - you're using a USB adapter with a Micro Flash card installed. These are usually used in Mobile phones for storage.
As WMP won't allow it to play - why don't you try http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html and see if it plays.
I just tried my Transcend 8GB Micro Flash card in it's USB adapter in this comp (W8.1 Pro) and it played the Ringtones Files OK.
Could be that Vista OS is your problem but give VLC a go and let's know what happens. Neil.
