    Abit LGA 775 - IP35 PRO with e8400 cpu.
This is the BIOS Flashing Guide, Step by Step I will be following.
The BIOS update I will be using ... m629b16

The systems is running rock solid and very fast .. default settings, NO overclocking. The primary reason I would like / need to update BIOS is Abit / Intel / cpu / BIOS can not process proper cpu temperatures (along with other electrical / heat values). This BIOS update should fix this (for 45nm cpu's, not 65nm).
Would appreciate any additional comments, suggestions, guidance to this procedure.

    Thanks
    Dennis L

    Just a sidenote.
Still waiting for Acronis TI (v11 / build 5830) to provide a solution for image backup. I can create / verify an image, but Acronis Rescue Boot Disk fails at load. So I can create an image (have many stored on HDD), but no way to apply / restore image back to HDD.
Would it be wise to hold off on BIOS update until this is resolved. I understand Acronis does not include BIOS in image, but concerned if a burp occurs during flash .. may cause a problem in loading HDD / Windows or anything that a restored image might be able to resolve. Is this just wishful thinking or should I hold off with BIOS flash.

    Hi Dennis

This is straight forward! The directions here are clear and simple. I have done them numerous times.

You have already met the first requirement: Have a reason to do it!

The second is to be absolutly certain that the bin file is for your chip and that appears clear on the link.

I do prefer that the computer be on a UPS as if it powers off at the wrong time the chip may be damaged but the newer chips and better flashing software have minimized this risk.

Do it to it! Git R done!

    Thanks Mike

You where right ... went smoooth.
Although a little nerve racking, everything went as it should.
BIOS / CPU temp reads continue to be incorrect, reading about 10 degrees below true (??) ... if you can believe Real Temp 2.24 (used by many due to Intel / Abit / not having mature BIOS loads for newer cpu's. But now uGuru (Abits utility tool) is no longer reporting 450 degree F plus or minus 50 degrees, but is now about 69F / 72F, which as I type this is 5 to 8 degrees below local ambient temp ... Geez, didn't know you could turn a CPU into a Air Conditioner. :D Oh well, as they say, baby steps. Abit/Intel are at least making headway on the 45nm cpu's / BIOS loads. Many of the 65nm folks had to roll back / away from the last BIOS update .... it just made a things worse.
Again thanks Mike ... appreciated the nudge.
