    Hi all,

    Anyone ever encountered this yet?

The first page loads like lightning, but the second tab loads worse than dial-up! ( I have DSL)

    Thanks.

Edit: I first noticed it when I tried to click on a link in a yahoo e-mail message. The browser opened a new tab, but the page would either not load, or loaded extremely slowly. I thought the web site might be down that I was trying to find, but after experimenting with IE, in the same manner, I ruled that out.

FWIW, I just installed FF 3 today, after hearing that FF 2 was being phased out. Personally, I have never liked FF 3 from the get-go. It gave me problems back in the summer, and it's giving me problems now.

Microsoft still supports IE 5...why can't Mozilla keep supporting FF 2?

    Java Quick Starter

    Roboform

    Flash Blocker

I disabled them one at a time, but it didn't seem to help much. All have been updated.

Well if its not due to extensions, I don't have a clue.

Just see if disabling ALL of them makes any difference.

I shut the PC down overnight, and, today, the second tab seems to be loading at a somewhat acceptable rate for now. Didn't do much, except to remove some dead-end registry links, but the problem still existed afterwards.

    Go figure.

Overall, I prefer FF 2. Can't understand why they decided to drop support for it when Microsoft still supports IE 5.

    Maybe it's money issue.

I have an old computer with Win98SE, as I wait for my newer computer to be picked up from the shop. There is a difference between supporting, and working.
Microsoft has stopped supporting, i.e. giving any updates, or even info about Win98, Win98SE, and Me, in 2006. I was stuck with IE5.0, and could not use or update a number of programs, because 5.0 was not acceptable. fortunately, I was able to update to IE5.5, no thanks to Microsoft. As for Firefox2.x, it has become obsolete, but it works fine, and it is completely up-to-date.
For whatever reason, the Mozilla corp. has decided to go with FF3.x, which I can't use in Win98SE. Firefox is not a program standing in the middle of nowhere. It does need an operating system, after all.
As for your second tab, which don't you switch it around with the first? To say that "second tab loads slowly" means absolutely nothing, not knowing which one it is. Not all urls were created equal, and some are more complex than others. Have you tried to use a third tab, as a tie breaker.

Nor sure if I follow you here...I tried a third tab, but it was slow like the second tab.

Second tab refers to the one that FF opens up after clicking on a link in the first tab. (Yahoo e-mail link, for example)

I had no such problem with FF 2, or IE.

You're not missing anything in my opinion, respectfully.
