Just found this forum. Just registered. Familiar with Mac, not very familiar with PC, although I did set up its connection to our router. This concerns wife's PC.

Installed SIIG PCMCIA card. Card is recognized. Latest driver(s) are installed. Connected good FW cable to good external FW HD. FW HD is recognized by Mac as working, but unknown/can't read. This is true because the FW HD is supposed to be formatted and used for back up by the PC.

PC has all current updates and patches for all apps and XP Home.

Problem: PC sees PCMCIA Card as installed and working, but does NOT see the FW HD.

Device Manager and Troubleshooting processes do not solve problem.

Does not show on Hardware devices.

Did a search of all forums here for the last year for "Firewire ". Found one "FW HD unrecognized ", but no one answered that question. Need to get this working as a backup 'cause XP Pro is enroute, and I want to install that ASAP.

What can I do to get the PC to see and utilize this drive? Have I missed something?

Thanks for any attention you can give this.

    Firewire and toshiba

Found I did two things wrong.

    1. When I installed the IBM drive inthe FW case, I failed to first set jumpers to Master.
They are now set. The drive is seen by the Device Manager, but as a FW network connection. It is not listed as a disk drive.

    2. I posted in the wrong forum. It is and XP issue, not a hardware issue.

    Apology accepted?
