Hey, Hope someone can help me here...

Since I am writing in this forum, it's because I have WinMe, recently upgraded from Win 98. Some people told me tonight I should have upgraded to WinXT... .

Today, out of the blue, for no known reason at all, both N7.02 and IE6.0 could not access the net. I disabled my cable modem for 1+ minute and waited 5+ minutes to attempt a reconnect with my browsers. No go. I phoned my Cable Service provider and was asked to check the status of my modem, they "pinged" it to see that it was working ok! It was.

Then, I was told to disable my Norton firewall, *!eeeeeeek!* NOT my firewall... but I did after some talking with the tech person on the line. So, after disabling my firewall, I was able to access the internet with no problems... *Yuk*

Is this a problem related to WinMe use, and is there a workaround for this situation?

    Hi busybee
I'd be more inclined to think it was something to do with the settings of your firewall. Did you try to uninstall then re-install? Or perhaps try another firewall such as zonealarm?

    That's wonderful news busybee
Could you be so kind as to tell us how you went about it...so that others who come along and have the same problem, are helped as well?

    Hey,

Be glad to give you the feedback

I did a fresh upgrade to WinXP and did the complete reinstall of my Netscape

    The problem was thus circumvented.
