I'm running Firefox 3.5.7 on Vista Business 32-bit, and I have two profiles. The first profile opens fine but my second profile doesn't because it's "in use ". There is no parent.lock file in the second profile's directory. I did find a parent.lock file in the first profile's directory while Firefox was open, so I doubt it's an issue with my Explorer's settings regarding hidden files. There are no other running instances of Firefox or any other firefox-related program. It did start happening after a system crash. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi Bourreau and welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Have you tried any of the steps in this Mozilla KB article.

Restoring data from a locked profile is probably your best bet.

I use four different Firefoxes, all installed in different locations, and using their own profile.
The "in use" comes up if I close one version, and try to open another one within a few seconds. But, at times, no amount of waiting seems to be enough. I will have to see which version is causing trouble, as I have, never, paid close attention if there is one profile which is troublesome. At this point, only the profile in use has the parent.lock file, which makes sense.
