Versions: Firefox 1.0, Mozilla 1.7.5, WinXP Home, SP2

When logging on to this site (WindowsBBS) Mozilla will produce the correct
user id and password. Firefox will only produce the user id, password is blank.

I use the PrefBar to remember user ids and passwords. Firefox works fine for all
other sites just not this one....

    Suggestions?

    thank you,
    Clif

    Update:

I just looked under Options>Privacy>Passwords and clicked to show passwords.
For this site, password is blank even tho i told FF to save it (again).

Same here. It may be for safety. Do you mean that you Log Out, and then have to enter the password when you reenter the site. Don't log out!

    Hi Westside,

I tried that (not logging out). Just went to another page then closed FF and
rebooted. Went back in and no password. It seems to hold the user id
sometimes but not all the time.

After i logged in, i checked the password file and it was there (both user id and
password) but going to login, only the user id showed, i had to re-enter the password.

I will have to see what is the difference between the Firefox1.0 and the Netscape Browser beta( soon to be Netscape 8), which is based on the the FF1.0. I have no problem with Firefox, but NS Browser seems to be illiterate, when I have checked to save passwords. As I said, FF does not have a password listed in its properties, but I can stay logging in. This is not true of NS browser, which does not seem to remember any password.
There is a difference in Cookies controls. I accept all cookies in Firefox, but, only for the session, while I restrict cookies originating from the website, but stored as long that they are valid.
I just don't know. It is very strange.

Strange is putting it mildly. :)

Very strange= Booting up and seeing "M_R Error 3" and then showing a blank
screen (not even the dreaded BSOD).
I assumed this was Master Boot Record(?). Only way to get around it was to
re-install windows, reinstall Acronis Disk Image then do a restore image run from
a backup HD. I'm very glad i have Acronis otherwise it would take me 2 days
to re-coop everything (if ever). As is, i only lost a couple things.

When I logged in and let FF save my username(s) and password(s) for a number of sites, in two cases, only the username was saved, not the password. Both are vBulletin boards and Windows BBS is one of them.

I noticed that after having typed the details the first time, when I hit <login> the password box became blank before the "save dialog box" came up.

It seems to be a feature of vBulletin and not of a specific site.

(Internet Explorer doesn't save anything for vBulletin boards.)

When I come to this BBS I am automatically signed in because I have cookies from this site to do that function.

If you logout when you are through the cookie goes away and you have to sign in again.

I looked in my FF passwords and the is no entry for this place. FF also does not save passwords for On Line Banking sites. I have to use a third party (Roboform) to sign in to OLB.
