I've been using Netscape 7.n with Win98 SE. Netscape is installed with other utilities on my Drive E: I want Firefox to import my bookmarks, and set them up in a Netscape-style sidebar.

Where does NScape keep the bookmarks?

How does Firefox set up the sidebar?

Finally, and OT, can anyone suggest a little handy application where I can keep the answers to questions I've already asked? I'm embarassed to find myself imposing on the members of my various lists again and again with similar questions, the answers to which my apps are too unwieldy to record and bring up.

    Oyster,

The Netscape bookmarks.html file is found in the *.slt (salted) folder. See this page: Profile Folder Location.

Rather than Import the bookmarks.html file, I would suggest that you simply copy the file from Netscape and paste it into the Firefox Profile Name folder:
    <path>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.abc

The Sidebar can be accessed by clicking on View | Sidebar.

Have you thought about bookmarking the threads you want to keep? If you're short on HD space, that shouldn't take up too much real estate.

As always, Ramona, I'm much obliged.

Trouble is, I've got several machines and two operating systems both here in town and at the camp. Often, weeks or months pass and I find myself confronted with a problem that seems familiar to me. I tried bookmarking, but often the exchange has expired or the site has changed or even disappeared. That's why I wondered if there was a small app people found delightful in its size , convenience and power, that would save and bring up these exchanges. How's that for wishful thinking?

    Oyster,

This may sound obvious, but what kind of storage media do you have? If you have a CD-RW then saving the pages to the HDD and burning them to CD would be the best method of all. They could then be read on any PC, as long as it had a CD-ROM.

As far as a small app. I don't know of any off hand. Perhaps someone else will have a suggestion for you.
