I've just opened both Thunderbird & Firefox which have both updated without problems. Usual notification about Addons not being compatible, in this case Skype. Cheers Neil.

I did not try Tb, but, as I keep my FF versions separate, I had not heard about FF9, which is at the beta stage. I have been using the nightly tester tools addon, to make some addons compatible, but with the new rapid release deal, if Firefox declares an addon incompatible, it stays that way. I was able to make an incompatible Theme compatible, with the same addon. My incompatible addons are Quick Restart and Get Mail Plus

Same as RL... both have updated... FF to 9 beta and TB to 8. So far 9 (which I received yesterday morning) has been rock solid.

So far all OK, plus they seem to open faster. Neil.

TB8.0is fine. As for FF8.0, I surely don't see how it would update to 9.0, which is a beta.
I checked 8.0, checked for updates, and it was up-to-date.
But I got 9.0 beta1, and it is rock solid.
By the way all addons and themes work fine, if download Add-on Compatibilty Reporter.
Compatibility checking is disabled, so all addons work. I got it working with 8.0, final version, although it is recommended only alphas and betas. So, use it at your own risk, with a final version.

So is 10.0a2, which I'm currently using as my default browser.

Wow, Jim. You're using an alpha? I've gotta hand it to you; you're willing to live on the edge. I'm not that brave.

I've been using Aurora (Mozilla's name for the alpha builds) as my default browser for several weeks, and have had absolutely NO problems. The builds are updated frequently and, while it's difficult to detect any changes, the browser seems faster than the current release. Just in case, though, I also have the current release and the current beta installed to fall back on if necessary.

As I mentioned in another thread, I use three separate, but identical, profiles, with 19 extensions (in which I've increased the maxversion setting in the install.rdf file to 50.0).

Just a reminder for inexperienced users, Alpha & Beta software is for testing only.

If you're not sure stay away from them, they should not be used on critical systems.

(not having a go at any posters in this thread, I just thought a warning would be appropriate)

I remember the days when using a beta was daring, and an alpha was looking for trouble, but not anymore. The differences between versions are so small that anything goes.
I set a limit to three versions of Firefox at a time. I will stick to 3.6.x, as long as it is supported. I am using 8.0 and 9.0, which appears to be b3 ( not that they bother telling you, any longer, but I got that many updates). I will test 10, when 9 is out as final, and will drop 8.
