Firefox 7.0 has just been released.

Downloaded & installed it. No real problems till now except the add-ons.

And its much faster than previous versions. Seems that Mozilla has finally gotten grips over the RAM issue.

Hmmm ,,, I just checked the FF website, and 6.0.2 is still shown as the current release, with 7.0 still in the beta stage. I had some trouble with 7.0b1 freezing occasionally. Hopefully, that will have been corrected.

Anyone have any idea why Mozilla has decided to do away with add-ons for firefox?

Some were canceled in the last release and even more with this one.

    Thank you.

    DugE ...

I don't know what version of FF you're using, or what extensions (add-ons) you're trying to use with it. Some extensions have been built into FF and others simply haven't been updated yet.

FWIW, I'm using 18 extensions with 7.0b and they all work as they're supposed to, although I've had to tweak a couple of them to increase the default max [FF] version.

Unless you do Java programming/development or debug Java applets on web pages, you do not need Java Console. Java update will install a new Java Console with each update. Removing the Java Console extensions has no effect on the functioning of Java for web browsing. You can see, but not remove, the Java Console extensions in Add-ons > Extensions. Java Console extensions can be safely removed manually by following the instructions in this article:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions

espn3 has a new player that uses Shockwave Flash. it is called WatchESPN here:

Confusing, as the Beta page also lists 7.0.

I have spent most of the day trying to figure out why my programs were locking up, almost instantly, and I was able to narrow down the problem to the Mail part. So, Seamonkey and Thunderbird freeze, but Outlook Express is fine.
As for the browser, Firefox seems ok. I have had no issue with addons, but, in order to get Firefox 7 in the release page, I had to do a separate download, and installed it on top the beta, which to my count, using incremental updates, was, at least b4.
You may not have the same problems as I do, but I got a mess for some reason. I did Virus and Malware checks.

FWIW, unless FF and TB update themselves (which doesn't always happen) I do a clean install after removing the earlier version (via Revo Uninstaller Pro).

Today I installed v7.0 of both FF (with 17 extensions) and TB (with 5 extensions), and haven't experienced a problem with either one.

There seems to be a problem with FF7. In certain cases your add-ons may dissapear.

    Also:

FF 7 no longer shows the "http://" in the location bar. It is hidden now. However, if you copy+paste the URL the http prefix will get copied. (as when copy+paste an URL into a message or post here or a text document)

The stuff about "http:/" is funny. I can see it on ALL the sites.

As Tony mentioned, I don't see the http:// but, FWIW, it's not necessary to include either http:// or www. when pasting or typing a URL in FF's address window. The name of the site, e.g. windowsbbs.com, is all that's necessary.

Well hiding addons is a bug & hiding http is a new feature.

Well the problem is, that due to this particular feature bug, when you copy a link from the address bar it won't include "http ".
So when you paste it, it won't be a clickable link.
To reverse this questionable "feature ": http://www.smartestcomputing.us.com/topic/48348-how-to-restore-http-prefix-in-firefox-7/
