    Good Morning,

I currently have windows xp and I am using Internet Explorer. I decided to try mozilla foxfire so I downloaded the latest version. I think I should have downloaded an older version because I can not get it to open.

I want to uninstall version 3.0 but the system will not let me. The message I get is firefox is still running and I have to turn it off before I can uninstall it. Well, being the newbie I am, I can't figure out how to turn it off......!

Can someone tell me how to turn it off so I can start over with an older version of firefox?

    Thanks for your help,

    Dreamstreet

Firefox would not normally start with your computer so do a restart (not hibernate) and try to uninstall after that. FWIW I'm running FF 3.0.7 on two systems here and have never had a problem.

Good advice from Wildfire. Recommended fix worked

Thanks Wildfire.................I was trying to open firefox and then I tried to uninstall it. When I restarted my pc and immediately went to add/remove programs the uninstall worked.

    Thanks Again...................

For future reference, a quicker way is to do a Cntrl+Alt+Del to bring up the Close Program, in Win98SE or whatever it is called in WinXP, and close the firefox.exe item (this works with any running program which you want to close). No restarting is needed.

Hi Westside, My first thought too and it would have been my next post but a restart is usually easier to describe online than messing with task manager. Good advice for other issues though. :)
