I installed this from a nightly build and it ran very fast and the fonts displayed beautifully. I think it has a new rendering engine. I had read that it allowed a true zoom as in Opera and IE7, but i could not find the buttons to do it, only the usual menu and shortcut to change font size.

Does anyone know about this? When a webpage only uses half the screen width it would be nice to zoom out to full page (or near).

Firefox 3 by the end of the year?

I am using now, Gran Paradiso (ff3.0)a8. You are probably using a9.
Starting with a8, they put the requirement that updates of Addons and Themes
be secure. This will not happen any time soon, as no addon and theme is upgraded securily. This could be the kiss of death to Addons.
Even the default theme does not make the grade.
As to when, I would say who knows, since they have not reached the beta stage.
As to zoom, I have no idea, but can you fill in a page in Opera? I think that it is a website thing.

    Labarum,

The page zoom feature is fully implemented; however, the user interface doesn't expose the page zoom functionality to the end user yet. Until menu items, toolbar buttons, or keyboard shortcuts are added to facilitate access to the page zoom functionality, users won't be able to use the new feature.

The official release date for Firefox 3.0 is currently expected in the fourth quarter of this year, but no specific date yet.

    Take a look here:

Is this feature a temporary security measure or will this be implemented with final release for Firefox 3 release (all addons must be secure)??

    Dennis,
I don't know, but all my addons and themes have a comment: "Does not provide secure updates ". however, it has no detrimental effect. I can do updates, and in one case I got a popup notice that an update was available.

Thank you Westside for your reply.
Addons bring so much to Firefox. It allows users to fine tune FF browser to fit their needs. Unfortunately, if their ever was an "Achilles Heel ", this feature screams for abuse. I am not so worried about a new addon being created to do harm, but popular addons already in use being compromised due to poorly written code.
