I just updated to the new FF 3.0.1 and now find that my internet browsing is extremely slow. Even when I click on the back arrow I have to wait and wait. I tried re-starting my computer but still the same. Any feedback is appreciated!

For me, FF3.0.1 has been as fast or faster than any previous version. How did you update?
Did you use the same profile as before?

I was on the Internet when a message box popped up and asked if I wanted to update -- I said yes and did. My theme is different than the one before.

Do I take that you had Firefox2.0.0.16, or what, and had the update notice? What is the theme? I have both 2.0.0.16 and 3.0.1, each with a different profile, and in different folders.

Yes, I had the update notice. I don't fool around with profiles, etc. I assume FF is handling everything since now we have automated update. I really don't know what theme it is -- it is the one that came with the update.

You could uninstall 3.0.1, and then reinstall 2.0.0.16 (your data will not be lost). Another option is to uninstall 3.0.1, and the install 3.0.1 portable . This alternate version is installed in a different folder, and has its own profile. You can import or copy the data from the other folder.
I have had no problem since I installed it.
And, by all means, take a look at Ramona's FF3.0 tips , even before doing anything. It will make possible for you to understand the differences between FF2 and 3.

Slowness, or excessive CPU, in Firefox is often related to one of these:
    • Add-ons
    • Extensions
    • Flash
    • JavaScript
    • The Home Page Used

My recommendation is to disable all extensions and set the home page to blank and see if the problem persists.

If it does, I would uninstall Firefox completely, clean up the folders left behind, reboot, then reinstall Firefox fresh.

I am in total agreement, but I did not suggest the above, because I got the impression that the slowdown came with the installation of 3.0.1. If anything add-ons would not be compatible with 3.0.1, and, there would be a lesser effect. of course, it depends if the slowdown was universal, and sudden, or not.
But one never knows. I am using Flock2.0beta which is based on FF3.x, and it uses 135 MB, and CPU bounces around between 14 and 51. I, never, saw anything like that with any Firefox.
We have to compare apples with apples.
I am looking forward at a reply.

    Just a quick note:

Hey, Westside, what's up? How's your weather?

When I needed to do an uninstall of FF, because something had quit, I needed to do a complete clean up of the registry, and somewhere, I have all of the registry entries that must go. Ramona has it also, I believe.

Let's see. Weather is beautiful, but no rain in six weeks. AVG8 is freaking out. I think that the update has finally succeeded. I can't install if I get on my knees. Microsoft has given up. But FF3.0.1 is working like a charm. I have seven add-ons enabled, and, don't use any tab. My firefox3.0.1 weighs in at 68MB, and uses, hardly any CPU.
