Thanks BOBO! I wish that Mozilla wouldn't rush Version 2.0, as there are still some flaws that I see, and have reported. But of course they want to meet MS head on with the new IE 7. I'm not saying 2.0 is bad, just that it could still use some work. However, I'm sure the Moz engineers are working long hard hours to fix as many bugs as possible between now and Tuesday.

There have been several articles in the news lately regarding the Firefox 2 vs IE 7 releases. This should be interesting as both organizations have taken bits and pieces of each other's browsers and included them in their own.

    2.0 not out yet

Do you have a link Westside?

As of 2:45 PM (EDT), Mon/23 Oct, the current official release is still 1.5.0.7. A number of sites have posted what purports to be 2.0 but, so far as I know as of the time of this post, rc3 is still the last available version of 2.0.

    Thanks, Ramona.

Mozilla certainly didn't make it easy to find.

    Jim,

This is the best place to find a new release, as it usually shows up here first.

It appears that 2.0 is identical to 2.0rc3, as the build information is the same ... 2006101023.

Lots of information out on MozillaZine. It appears that RC3 is the final Version. Also of interest:
So the official announcement of the Firefox 2.0 Release will wait until tomorrow, altho we can enjoy using the browser today.

I know the updating mechanism has been modified in the 1.x series so that you don't need to reinstall the new version; but will this continue with 2.x as well? I am using 1.5.x; will I have to d/l an exe for 2.0, or will the auto-update feature just install teh updates automatically? I didn't see anything in the 2.0 release notes for this.

Man I used to love those zipped files....:(

    Me, too. :)

If you don't want to use the 2.0 install version, just use the 2.0rc3 zipped version ... the two appear to be identical.

Yeah my curiosity got the best of me and that's exactly what I just did. Now I'm gonna try out that great looking theme that's only for 2.0....lemme see what was it called?

EDIT: Ugh...its the Noia 2.0 theme...it sure looked good in the screenshots but its a bit too loud for my own windows. Oh well to each their own.

FYI--keep in mind that in the Tools menu, you don't get to see an option to select Themes or Extensions. They are both bundled into an option called "Add-Ons." If I had known that I wouldn't have had a heart attack 5 minutes ago when I thought they had all disappeared.

    Paul,

I love the Noia 2.0 (Extreme) Theme, but I don't like the icons, not any icons, anywhere! So, I use "Text" in the Customize field, so that it is just a plain silver theme, which is right up my alley.

Hey Savage, hope you heal quickly.

Yeah I'm missing a few of my extensions too. IE View and Send to Gmail are both not ready yet IIRC--though don't quote me on that I'm at work.

IE View works with 2.0 if you bump it with Nightly Tester Tools or MR Tech Local Install, as will any number of other extensions. Don't know about Send to Gmail.

Yeah I was aware of NTT; maybe I'll break down and install it or the MR tech one. I try to keep the number of extensions to a minimum, but last time we updated, I had to wait so long for the new version of one of my extensions that I really regretted updating. It was one of those I've mentioned, or Mozilla Archive Format.

Hopefully Tabbrowser Extensions updates his extension (not a Mozilla supported extension - use at your own risk). Lost some functionality (will not multi-row Tab). Also have the following error when opening FF2 (see jpg).
But continues to beat any TAB extension out there (including TabMix Plus).
