Last night, another Firefox update came through. So I install it and re-start FF, and came to find that NONE of the add-ons, or themes for that matter, work anymore. I tried everything from re-installing them (themes only), but they're not recognized anymore. Does anyone have a similar experience?

Is there any way to roll it back to 2.0.0.6?? I'm running Vista, by the way.

This is a Firefox problem and should have been posted in that forum - moved.

1.Don't allow Firefox to do its own update. There is a setting in Tools|Options|Advanced|Update tab, which can be changed.
2.I am using Mr Tech Local Install or Nightly Tester Tools to make incompatible addons or themes compatible.
3.It is preferable to uninstall the previous version, and install from a complete download. It took me 15 sec to to install 2.0.0.7. One of my 14 addons was incompatible, and the Theme was ok. I made the incompatible addon compatible, and I am in business.

If thee addons are listed you are ok. Why would your program act the way it does, I am not sure.. I would uninstall the present version, and install from a complete download. Then, if you still have problems, we can negotiate. The link to Mr Tech is here: http://www.mrtech.com/extensions/local_install/

Alright, so I just re-installed FF 2.0.0.7 from scratch. I had to delete ALL add-ons that FF installs in two different locations (Mozilla folder, etc.). Working beautifully again now. I know I can turn the automatic updates off, but why would it mess it up like that? Sometimes the add-ons are not compatible, yea. But NONE of my add-ons OR themes worked. When I "just" uninstalled FF from Vista, it was not enough, and like I said, I had to remove all the other folders as well and re-do my bookmarks, re-download the add-ons, themes, and have my tabs back to where I want them.

Who of you guys are using Vista and who is using XP? It might be Vista that's the culprit? Firefox still rules, of course. :D

I installed 2.0.07 on Vista last night, and it went smoothly.

I list my programs at the bottom of the post. As you can see, I am using WinXP. As far as I know Vista should be blamed for everything till proven otherwise. But, I have no idea why you had problems.

Oh well, the re-installation worked just fine, and I agree, it was probably Vista, even though I had just recently installed it from scratch. I do remember that the update from 2.0.0.5 to 2.0.0.6 had no problems under Vista.

We will, probably, never know, unless you keep your preference settings the same. I would never do it.

You would never do what? And I agree, we'll never know, but that's alright. Took all of 5 mins. to re-install and it's been kicking butt ever since. I'll do a system restore before any future upgrades.

Here we go again! I am being interrupted, and still send the message. It was happening again, just now.
I meant to allow Firefox to automatically download, and install updates, as it is default, I believe in your Tools|Options|Advanced|Updates.
I have the preferences set to let me know if there is an update, and ask me what I want to do. But, I, usually, do a sort of clean install (i.e. uninstall the previous version, then install the new one).
There is no reason to do a system restore, since you are dealing with a single program.
