    Running WinXP Home, Sp2

Once again - movie trailers have stopped playing from the yahoo site.

I had a cable modem go bad on me and got a replacement but dont
think this has anything to do with this movie business.

Re-installed Firefox but no help there.

Contents of the plugins folder for firefox.
    GetFlash.exe
    GetFlash.exe.manifest
    np32dsw.dll
    NPAdbESD.dll
    npagent.dll
    npDivxPlayerPlugin.dll
    npnul32.dll
    nppdf32.dll
    nppl3260.dll
    nppl3260.dll
    npqtplugin2.dll
    npqtplugin3.dll
    npqtplugin4.dll
    npqtplugin5.dll
    npqtplugin6.dll
    npqtpligin.dll
    NPSWF32.dll
    nslDivxPlayerPlugin.xpt
    nslQTScriptablePlugin.xpt
    QuicktimePlugin.class
    ShockwavePlugin.class

    Am i missing a plugin?
    Thanks,

Yahoo movies and music will work, but not always, since they may have a "sniffer" which may not allow you to even get started. They used to be that way, at least. First and foremost, you will need the npdsplay.dll file which drive Windows Media Player, and, on top of it Yahoo most likely require an ActiveX plugin, npmozax.dll.
You should be able to pick up the WMP file, if it is installed.
ActiveX plugins are available here . I have not checked the FF1.5 file, which is a test version. You will see from the site that whatever works for one version does not work for another.
So, good luck. You may need some other trick to outsmart Yahoo, though, like the IE Tabb extention, or fool it with the User Agent Switcher. I will not go into details there. I avoid Yahoo, except for mail, because of its backwardness.

    clif,

I noted in your list that you have duplicate nppl3260.dll files. This is your RealPlayer plugin. I think it is a typo, but you have listed this QuickTime plugin as:
    npqtpl i gin.dll.

I agree with Westside, that you need to install the Firefox 1.5 ActiveX plugin. Also, this is a great troubleshooting page.

    plugins.
Have to search for the npmozax file, didnt find it on my sys.

Will post here if (when) its working

    thanks,
    savagcl

May be you did not notice the link which I gave for activeX plugins. So, I changed the name of the link for better visibility.
The take home message which I had tried to make is that the ActiveX plugin which is good for one version may not be good for another.

    Westside,

Guess i dont need the links plugins after all but thanks for id'ing the site
    to me.

    This is strange!
I restored my system (Acronis) and now the movies work.

    My restored Firefox plugins:

    GetFlash.exe
    GetFlast.exe.manifest
    np32dsw.dll
    NPAdbESD.dll
    npagent.dll
    noDivxPlayerPlugin.dll
    npnul32.dll
    nppdf32.dll
    nppl3260.dll
    npqtplugin2.dll
    npqtplugin3.dll
    npqtplugin4.dll
    npqtplugin5.dll
    npqtplugin6.dll
    npqtplugin.dll
    nprpjplug.dllNPSWF32.dll
    nslDivxPlayerPlugin.xpt
    nslQTScriptablePlugin.xpt
    QuickTimePlugin.class
    ShockwavePlugin.class

Note: no npdsplay.dll appears in Firefox but Mozilla has a lot more
plugins, one of which is the npdsplay.dll. This dll also appears in the
    netscape browser.

Since Firefox was installed after both Mozilla and Netscape, maybe they
react with Firefox during an install????

    thanks,
    savagcl

Now to create a backup plugins folder on another drive!

Do you by any chance run Adblock? I was having a devilish time with Yahoo email (couldn't do anything). I whitelisted the yahoo site and everything started working.

I probably blocked some ad that annoyed Yahoo and caused it to stop working.

No adblock, but i do run adaware, spybot, windows defender, ccleaner,
dclean, mrublaster, regclean, regsupreme and Spider. They do a pretty
    good job.

I also have spyware blaster but not sure if it does anything. Had it for at
least a year and havent seen do anything. Thinking of dropping it.

    savagcl

PS: I only use yahoo for a home page (loads pretty fast) and to view
    movie trailers, nothing else.

I have adaware and spybot and spywareblaster.

As long as I have had spywareblaster, I have never had any spyware on my box. I assume it is doing a great job.

The only thing I have against it is the update frequency being more than weekly at times.

Spyware Blaster is not doing a thing in the open, but just look at your Cookies|Exceptions. None of those sites are able to drop a cookie, and work in your system. I think that SB is has a brilliant method of operating, but it must be periodically updated. There are over 5,600 items in the database.
The latest update is of 4/3/06. If anyone has Excite mail, it would be blocked, because Excite is considered to be Spyware.
In summary, I would, and did drop other anti-spyware programs, but would never drop Spyware Blaster.
Other anti-spyware is good after the fact, to clean up your machine, if affected. Some are better than others. Cccleaner, and some other programs are not anti-spyware, but very useful for maintenance. I regularly used Ccleaner if I want to do a clean install.
As for the plugins, Firefox should be able to locate them even outside its own plugins folder, but I don't count on it, so I copy the necessary .dll, in case it lost its eyesight.

    Westside,

I did the update and looked around for cookies|exceptions. Didnt find
anything there. I'mn set to only keep cookies for the current session.
Wont hurt to hang onto it tho.

Not sure about firefox finding all plugins but i have them backed up now
and if it goes haywire, i can restore them.

    thanks,
    savagcl

PS: Severe thunderstorms, tornadoes possible here in KY. Going off line
    before i get hit.

In FF1.5 Privacy|Cookies|Exceptions. If Spyware Blaster is set up properly, you should have some 400+ exceptions, meaning that the cookies will never be placed on your computer, so the worst spyware items do not get a chance. The way you do it, the can get in, over and over. If you don't see anything in the Exceptions list, it means that you have not enabled SB.
As for the weather, I knowe the feeling. We had the same thing going on last night, here in Omaha.

    Westside,

I'm not sure how many there are listed but i do see a lot. I do have
protection enabled for all items within spyblaster tho.

    thanks,

I was just responding to your earlier post, which said, in part:
