Use Foxit PDF Reader to view PDF's. Previous to version 1.5, when I clicked on a pdf URL, Firefox would automatically download and open the file in Foxit outside of the browser. Now it opens view in the browser. Is their a setting to force display outside of the browser?

    Thanks

Maybe this extension will do what you want but it kind of sounds like it just gives you the option to open it in the browser or save it to disk. I tried it but am having problems with my extensions right now so I can't really tell you what it does for sure. You can have a look if you want.

Otherwise, it appears there is no way at the moment. You can have a look at this thread. It seems there's more that want the option and they say they'll have it in the next verion of foxit.

I suppose you could always right click on the link to the file and choose to save it to your disk and then open it later. Clumsy, but a work around.

    Thank you Zander

I had previously loaded "PDF Download ", unfortunately does not provide an option to force loading outside the browser. Both "PDF Download and Foxit" will work option into their next release. :)

    Thanks again Zander

    UPDATE

It would appear Foxit Pro (beta) was forcing PDF views through the browser. Had loaded Pro version a couple of days ago, but did not have time to test. I uninstalled Pro, re-associated to Foxit Reader free (Zip version). Firefox continues to open a blank tab, but the PDF is loaded outside of the browser.
