    Good news from Mozilla.org, Mozilla Team has been working hard and the first public Alpha for Firefox 1.1 is now available for testing.

    From MozillaZine: Firefox 1.1 Preview Alpha is now available for testing, known as Deer Park Alpha 1 release candidate.

    In the tradition of Mozilla renamings, Deer Park Alpha 1 has previously been referred to in planning documents as the Deer Park Developer Preview, the Firefox 1.1 Developer Preview and Firefox 1.1 Alpha. Note that while this release is termed as an alpha, it's actually based on the Mozilla 1.8 Beta 2 code. The final Firefox 1.1 release will be based on the final 1.8 code.

    We might also add this paragraph from the MozillaZine page:

    Thanks for the information, Antony.

    New features of Deer Park Alpha 1 including:
    * "Sanitize" privacy feature
    The "Sanitize" feature provides an easy way to quickly remove browsing history, cookies, cache, saved form information, and other personal data. The items to be removed can be customized, and the feature can be activated using either a keyboard shortcut or through a menu item.
    * Fast back (and forward)
    This very experimental feature allows much faster session history navigation. The feature is off by default but can be enabled for testing purposes by setting the browser.sessionhistory.max_viewers preference to a nonzero number.
    * Drag and drop (Mac OS X)
    Users can now drag more file types to the Dock icon to open in the browser
    * Keyboard shortcuts (Mac OS X)
    CMD + Return and CMD + Shift + Return are now supported for address completion as on other platforms.

    ...
    (For a complete list, please see New Browser Features in Deer Park Alpha 1.)

    There are also new features for web developers and extension developers.

    I know that Mozilla does not like to release zip files, but zip files should be available for such early testing. I went through the different feedbacks, and I have seen someone telling that zipp file are available, without giving a link, or did I miss something? Anyway, I have been testing nightlies, which have been as stable as the 1.7.x set.
    Just got the latest nightly which is marked Deer Park alpha 1. Very intersting. The fox either drowned or went into orbit. Nothing but the globe in the desktop shortcut.
