Hello, I have a Toshiba Satillite Laptop A100-PSAARA-057007, could you please tell me where I can find what series my laptop is?
I tryed to register my product for support with Toshiba but they require letters and numbers after the
A100-....... (for eg.They require numbers and letters like this.
A100-S2211TD or A100-S2311TD or A100-S8111TD or A100-ST1041 and there are more. But There is nothing like this on the sticker of my laptop.
I also need to check for hardware or BIOs updates, but I can't find what series it is as The model number on
the back of the laptop only has this. (A100-PSAARA-057007)
I have tryed everywhere to find the information with no results.
    Any help would be appreciated.
I have screenshots but don't know how to post them here.

    Jewel

Thank you for responding. The Registration only requires the serial.

For product support they require the series from the model number
which does not show on the sticker. I have the sticker on the back of the laptop but all it says is (A100 PSAARA-057007)
My sticker is different to the link in the screenshot you posted.
Where it says satillite M300 in the screenshot,
Mine says Satillite A100 SYSTEM UNIT
    MODEL (PSAARA-057007)
For update support they require which A100 series do I have and give a few eg
A100-S2311TD or A100-S8111TD or A100-ST1041 but mine does not have anything like this.

I will use this link http://www.gtopala.com/ to see what it reveals and will get back with info here.

    Thank you

Does this link help you at all:
    http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/notebooks/satellite/a100/psaara-057007/download?os=15

I did notice that your particular model is no longer supported or considered discontinued:
    http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/discontinued

The only new update I saw being offered was Bios. Everything else is as was when factory installed.

Got a specific reason for seeking help from Toshiba?

This link I had, one of the reasons I need the series version of my model.

I did notice that my particular model is no longer supported or considered discontinued too, very strange.

Yes I do. It is a very long story but in brief:

I have a startup and reboot problem on my laptop but not all the time.
The system can boot into windows and safe mode but sometimes on starting or rebooting the bar down the bottom of the welcome screen freezes half way.
I Have performed all the necessary things, for eg
I ran a chkdsk, disk error check, last known good configuration, system restore, safe mode start up repair, with no results. All results I ran, reports stated no known problems, no known hardware problems ect.
So I finally backed up and did a system recovery back to a clean state but still the problem occurs only sometimes.Yesterday the laptop froze but today it started ok and has been doing this for the past 3 weeks.

Not knowing what else to or what it could be I was going to ask Toshiba for help, but need to know what laptop series it is besides the A100. There has got to be more letters and numbers after it. So now I am stuck to what to do.

Thank you for trying to help me.

If you use SIW, it should give you the mainboard (motherboard) model, that could help ID your laptop.

FWIW I'm not too keen on how manufacturers (not just Toshiba) name there models (do you know how many times I've been asked to look at a Satellite :))

On my system their is a model name sticker (C660-119)

Thank you for responding and for the information. I am getting an error when I try to download the SIW (We couldn't find that page!
The file you are looking for, /siw.exe, cannot be found on this server.) both the links on the page for download report an error, I also clicked on the siw.exe Tech version download, but it bought me back to the link you gave me.
any other suggestions how I can overcome this so I may download the file please?

here http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html for an older version 2010 (build 0714 freeware) but the link I clicked on was blocked as being an unsafe dowload. There is a also a Torrent link but I don't trust torrent.

Sorry about this, I have another question about SIW as I am going around in circles here. Is SIW the same as Lansweeper? as they are on the same page here http://www.gtopala.com/ I downloaded Lansweeper yesterday as suggested by Ann but haven't installed it yet as my head was spinning from being at the computer for so long trying to work thing out.
Is SIW different to Lansweeper? If it is different, it seems there is no free version of SIW.

No Lansweeper is different, Download the freeware version of SIW (SIW Multilanguage With Installer) from here (it works I just tested it).

Wildfire thank you for responding. The download link was blocked as being an unsafe download by smart screen filter. My virus program is MSE. Should I disable smart screen filter while downloading it as you mentioned you just tested it and it worked.
    Just to add here
My MSE scanned the download and reported *WARNING: publisher of this program couldn't be verified*
Not having much luck am I.

:( I never suggested Lansweeper. The tool was always SIW. Site may have had more than one download link which would lead to other programs but main interest and suggestion was always SIW. Further I don't even know what Lansweeper is.

So sorry for any mix up. I hope you didn't run Lansweeper.

Ann sorry my mistake I thought the 2 were the same program. That's why I asked wildfire if SIW was the same as Lansweeper as they were on the same page. My head is spinning from all I have done and read on my computer these past 3 weeks trying to find the problem. Didn't mean to offend.

Hi Jewel2008, What OS is in your Laptop? When I Googled and read a Review, it said it had Vista.
Problems some owners are having is with XP OS and after installing SP3.
There seems to be more suggestions about Motherboard about to fail with intermittent freezing. Problem Drivers or additional hardware.
I have Everest installed on my laptop and it recognizes Make and Model of laptop. Neil.

Hi, my laptops OS is Windows vista Home Premium with SP2.

These problems you read were they related to just OS XP?

Yes, that's why I asked what OS you were using. I was also wondering whether your problem might be related in some way to SP's or Updates recently installed? Neil.

    No I don't think so.
(wondering whether your problem might be related in some way to SP's or Updates recently installed?)
as my problem was still occuring after I did a complete System Recovery and before I installed any microsoft updates or SP's.
It's a tricky one to know what is causing it as it is not happening all the time.

I have an older laptop Compaq Presario (2001) model. It was originally set up with ME as OS. It had a faulty HD when it was given to me and after installing another HD, I put XP Home on it.
I know this laptop inside out as I've had it apart several times fixing annoying little problems as the guy who gave it to me was going to throw it out.
This would be the cleanest laptop around. I personally think the cooling fan and air flow is the big problem I have - so when I run it for more than 15 minutes on a dedicated 3 fan cooling pad - I direct air from a room oscillating fan directly on the laptop vent intake and it runs forever without freezing/stopping.

It might pay to try this yourself and see what happens. Neil.
