There is a small domain of 1 DC/Exchange server and 3 workstations. Each workstation has Outlook and each user uses a centrally stored Contacts list.

I have added a new user to the domain and installed a 4th workstation. When I try to connect Outlook to the Global address book, I cannot find it listed anywhere or even an option to search for it.

I am not familiar with Outlook as i dont use it myself, so any assistance would be appreciated

    Thanks

I'll assume that when you set up Outlook you set it up for Microsoft Exchange and not for Internet Only.

When you go to Tools > Services it show as a minimum Microsoft Exchange Server and Outlook Address Book, if the address book is missing you can click Add and put it in.

    Thanks for the reply.

When I set up Outlook on the workstation, I will have used the defaults (apart from the talking paperclip), as I installed it as part of an overall Office package, so if the default settings don't access Exchange, then they won't be set that way.

Can I attached Outlook to the Exchange server after install? The users still use external pop boxes for their e-mail, they were originally sold Exchange but didnt really need it. It is only the contacts database that is stored centrally.

I'll have to look at my home setup to verify anything but even setup for a pop3 account you should be able to add another address book.

Look in Tools > Accounts and then look at the properties to find how to add another address book. I'll check it out tonight and get back to you with a better answer.

I finally got a chance to check out my home computer.

You should be able to click on Tools > Accounts then click on Add, select Directory Service and type in the path to the MS Exchange Global Address List.
