Recently when I download a file (not using any download software) from the web (any size) it will get to 99% with 1 sec to go then the download box freezes and I have to close manually followed by "Windows Explorer has stopped working ", although the file has downloaded.

It is just the download box hanging and crashing IE7 that is annoying any ideas.

    Running Windows Vista Ultimate
    1 GB Memory
    2 Core Processor 3.00GHz
2GB Broadband on a router (with no issues)

    Hi Paul,
Hoping to help, I recommend MetaProducts Download Express. Free, and very effective.

Thanks for the reply, but I am not looking for 3rd party downloaders but a solution to my post.

You could try the Reset Internet Explorer settings function of IE. You can find it on the Advanced tab from Internet Options.

p.s. read the description so you know what it'll do.

Thanks for the reply, I have since turned on protected mode in IE7 and all was okay, but as I do not like the way some sites will always open up a new window this being dependant on the security zone the site is using, so I have turned it back off and all seems okay (for now), Hopefully it is cured !

If not I will reset IE7 to default.
