    Hi,

I have Windows XP SP2, Avast antivirus, and Firefox 3.0
When I download files, they appear in the destination folder, then once the download is complete they disappear.
The file name is still in the download window, but I just can't open it (the Open line is greyed out).
I tried IE7, and files don't download with it either.

Can anybody please help me ?

    TIA,

    Sebastien

Are you saying that you have assigned a location to download your files, and they are not there? This is done in Tools|Options|Mail or General|download section. I have no idea about IE, which I don't use. I have set up my Options so that download history is deleted. It does no good, unless you don't know where you download, and if kept and overfull will, eventually, prevent downloads. This was the case with Netscape, and Mozilla, and still in Seamonkey.

The file is created where I want when the download starts.
Once it ends, the file is deleted, wherever I choose to put it.

    Welcome to the Forum, Sebastian!

    Sebastian,

    Try this:

    Close Firefox
Open Windows Explorer to your Profiles directory:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profilename
    Delete the localstore.rdf file

Deleting the localstore.rdf file will reset your customized toolbars, window positions and sizes, tree sort orders, and similar settings. A new file will be created on start up or when the application first needs to write to the file. This file becomes corrupt, and thus the need to delete. Never copy this file from one Profile to another.
