I'm trying to select and delete select multiple files in certain directories. After I select about 4, a "copy" dialog appears and I now have copies of the selected files. This goes on recursively until I can get rid of the originals, then I have to delete the dozens of copies. XP SP 3.

I assume you are using the "Hold down the control key, and select with the mouse left click" method. If so I think you are "dragging" the mouse pointer as you select a particular file and that will "copy" all the selected files instead of just selecting the next file. A matter of hand to eye coordination.:)

It doesn't take much movement of the mouse to make a copy of the selected files.

Sort of trying to walk and chew gum at the same time.
