I used wizard to transfer files and settings to flash drives, was not selective in what files/settings to transfer. My question is can I be selective in transfer to new computer?

Don't see why not. What version of Windows to Windows are you doing?

xp home to xp home. I didn't re-install all third party apps. Does this make a difference?Same laptop, had to re-install to out-of-the-box condition.

I wouldn't think it would. You can't do programs that way. What are you trying to move?

Only interested in my documents folder with pics and other stuff. Don't really need anything else. I'll just be happy with that. I'll give it a try. What's the worst, error messages and it doesn't work? I'll live! :)

I'm pretty sure the Wizard is an all or none program and won't allow selectively restoring items. You can selectively choose what to transfer or store but restoring is non-selective.

You can be selective in what is stored away for you, by unselecting the file types by doing a Custom Selection. It is rather tedious to do.
This will not affect any files or folders connected to My Documents, it will affect any files in other locations.
