If I double click and try to open a downloaded Word document (or actually many just saved Word documents I have), without first opening the Word application, it takes up to five minutes to open. If I open Word first and then go get the downloaded file from my desktop it works just fine. I've been told that the file extensions maybe aren't being recognized and that is why it takes so long to find "Word" and open the file. What does anyone think? Thanks!

Right click one of the documents and choose "Open With" from the menu. Then choose "Choose Program" and then select your ver. of MS Word from the menu and then tag the box "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file." Perhaps that will help speed things up.
