I just bought a laptop and it will come with Windows XP. I have Windows 98 on my desktop, will I be able to type a file on my laptop and access on my home computer?

The files are compatible and a floppy made on one machine will be recognized on the other, barring any drive compatibility issues (opposing tolerances), which has always been a slight risk.

If you were asking to see if the computers could be connected via a data transfer cable, they can but it's a little different procedure so you'll have to get updated. Look here for some insight.

I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure it's fraught with all the same old aggravations that always accompany DCC hookup using MS software. I've always felt it was more difficult than it should be and wondered if they did it on purpose.

    Good luck.
