FF 2.03 strange?

Good morning - All,
I have strange happenings with ff 2.03....
I use the update option, it's always worked fine till now..
Doesn't ff remove older versions after updating?
I still have version 4.42.0.0 installed 12/2/6
Today, I installed version 1.8.20070.30919. These versions obtained by mousing over them in a file search???
I have the pop up when opening FF, (some files could not be updated, close all FF, etc.) Though the correct 2.03 is there and works..?
I think the add on no script corrupted something in java. I uninstalled it, but I'm still getting the above pop up...
FF 2.03 is the only version in add/remove area but, 4.;422 is in a file search. Since I don't use profiles as is mentioned often here, I leery in deleting the older version...

Hi John,

No, Firefox doesn't necessarily remove all older versions after updating. If you use the update option in Fx, it updates specific files, and the version. If you will click on "Help ", and select: About Mozilla Firefox, your version will be given there.

Just to be clear on your version 4.42.0.0., installed 12/2/6. You're saying that you still have version 1.5.0.4, which was installed 12/02/06?

That error is usually caused by your Firewall not being configured for the new version of Firefox. What Firewall are you using?

What is the exact path of the older version's files?

you say that you are not using profiles. Everybody uses at least one profile, which is probably the same as was used for the previous program.
The mystery is the check update. I have not seen any confirmation that 2.0.0.3 was updatable from anything, so how did you get it. As for version 4.42.0.0 installed 12/2/6 , I have no clue what it is.
I don't want to confuse you, and, please, reply to Ramona's questions, first, especially if what I say makes no sense.
