faxsvc.exe error

when I shut down Windows, I get error messages that pop
up that say,

"faxsvc.exe initialization failed, or faxsvc.dll
Initialization failed "

Does anyone know about this or what may be causing it?
I don't use the fax program in Windows ever. Can it simply be disabled?
In In managing the computer under Services it has it as manual (not automatic) which stumped me because it appears that something automatic is happening.

 

You can stop the service then set it to disabled. If you do not use it or plan to use it go to Add/Remove Programs then Add/Remove Windows Components and remove Fax Services.

If you think something started it I would scan for malware.

Thanks whiskeyman. That was what I thought should work but was looking for a confirmation before hand. Solved it immediately.
I keep a close eye on potential malware. This and the hotplug.dll problem were both recent so scanned for malware turned up nothing. However both issues happened after using Acronis TrueImage. The hotplug error was more serious and it turned out that True Image corrupted some drivers. I fixed it but now I recommend NovaStor for the same purpose.
