    Hi,

I am using a winXP Home Ed. in a small network environment consisting of 7 computers (mix of win95, 98, 2000, XP) connected to an 8 point hub with cat5 cables and I want to set up faxing through the xp machine. The network is connected permanently to the internet using a Nokia DSL modem (also connected to the hub)

My problem is that when I try to configure the fax service, it asks me to choose a modem to send and receive faxes through, and I can't seem to be able to select the DSL modem. Is it even possible for this to be done with a modem connected to the internet permanently? I figure the fax utility must be able to dial the fax number and hence needs a separate, unconnected modem, is this correct?

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Your DSL modem can't dial out. Use a regular ISA/PCI or even better, external modem. HTH ;)
