I have heard that a fax program is built into Windows XP. It is not on mine so I tried adding it by going to control panel add/remove option. Then add components. When I selected fax services it promted me for my Windows XP Home Edition CD, which I placed in the drive. But the wizard could not find the file it needed. Am I wrong  Is there a fax program built into XP or do I have to have third party software

Ok here's the deal. Although both of those articles were informative neither worked for me.
I have tried installing from the add/remove option by selecting adding components then checking fax services, as was also stated in the MSKB link you supplied me. I also tried by just putting my disk in and installing from the install additional components. Both methods ask for my XP home edition disk. Then it says insert Windows XP Home Edition floppy disc or specify a different location to get the files. WELL......... I don't have a floppy, Dell did not provide me with one, so I use my CD. It tells me that it cannot find the file "fxscom.dll" if you skip that one then it comes up with another one it can't find.
    I'm stumped!!! Any other suggestions?
