Fax Applications

I would like to be able to send and receive faxes using my computer and scanner. The frequency would be low, so I don't need a feature-laden program such as WinFaxPro. There is the Fax Wizard (part of Word97, I think) but it is unclear to me whether it allows sending scanned documents or receiving faxes (if so, how). I have Win98 1st ed., and a 56k modem. Any suggestions of relatively simple apps that could help me? They don't have to be freeware. Thank you.

Russ--Thank you very much for your help. After a little homework, I was able to easily install Windows Messenger and Microsoft Fax, and can now do everything I wanted to. And no cost whatsoever. The program seems a little slow to open or respond sometimes, but works well. Thanks again.

You are welcome. I never used the program so can't comment about the slowness of it.

 

Just wondering if Windows XP (Home) has a similar fax facility?

 

My computer came with XP home preinstalled. It has a fax, to get to it I go to start > all programs > accessories > communications > fax

 

Russ ... thanks. I just took a look at my XP CD and discovered that the fax facility was there but uninstalled on my machine.
