Favorites no longer appear in ie 8 and i can't get them back

When I upgraded to Windows 7, I had not problems until about 3 weeks ago. Then I started get a choice to use either Windows 7 or Vista. If I did nothing, I got Windows 7, which is what I wanted, but the hard drive was working overtime like it wanted to switch back & forth between the 2. I had it fixed, but now my favorites are no longer there. They are on the hard drive in their folder named "Favorites" where they have always been, but I can't get them into IE8 following the instructions, and for a while, I couldn't even click on them from the folder and have them work. I've tried clicking on them from the folder and then adding them to favorites again, but that doesn't work. I restored IE8 to default settings with the same results, Any suggestions? Hi bb, have a look at this link:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936215 and see if this has any help for you. Apparently the guy who wrote the script says it should work with Win7. Neil.
