This has not been my month. I installed Internet explorer 7, and have now lost my Favorites. They are in C:\Documents and settings\User Name\Favorites. I thought this was where they are supposed to be. Now I am not sure. I do not use IE very often, but I would like to have Favorites available.

What happens when you hit key combo ALT C? Did you click the little star icon on the toolbar? Did you try the toolbar>Tools dropdown and scroll to tololbars>favorites?

Sorry to bother you. A friend called and told me where the Favorites go.
    C:\Documents and settings\User Name.DESKTOP\Favorites
Why would Microsoft move them. This is the only User that has .DESKTOP.

Favorites in IE 7 are stored in:

    \Documents and Settings\username\Favorites

Your IE6 favorites are imported automaticly into IE 7. At top left, on the line where tabs appear, click the plain Gold Star, then Favorites to view them.

    Sorry wahlroot,
I guess I misunderstood what you were requesting. I thought your problem was in accessing the Favorites from with in IE7. In any case my favorites are located were they have always been, *\Documents and Settings\*\Favorites even after upgrade to IE7. I don't know why yours would reflect "username.desktop ".

Today my Favorites are in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Favorites

After updating to IE7 the minimum amount was put in there and in Username.Desktop\Favorites. I originally put mine in Username\Favorites, and they did not show in IE7, even after I rebooted. I then put them in Username.Desktop, and there they were. Today I removed them from Username.desktop, and they are still IE7. I do not know what is happening. I tried to delete Username.desktop, and it tells me, "Username.Desktop is a Windows system folder and is required for Windows to run properly. It cannot be deleted ". I do not know why there are not others called Username2.Desktop, or Username3.Desktop, and they work. I think Microsoft is trying to send me to the "nut" house.

    Favorites is a Shell Folder.
You or someone else changed the default Shell Folder Path. This is not a Microsoft doing.

Reset your Shell Folders to their default state:
Reset the Shell Folders paths to defaults

I did not know how to change a Shell folder path until now. I went to the site , then to the Registry, and found it as shown on the site. I am the only one who uses this computer. I downloaded IE7 on my other computer. The Favorites are where they belong, and there is no Username.Desktop on it, like there is on the No. 1 computer. By the way, both of the computers use the same Username.
