Fatal exception OE NTKERN

I hope someone can help with this. I have been searching and can't find anything that specifically deals with this. I'm getting the following:

Fatal Exception OE in 0028:C029DFD6 VXD NTKERN (08) 00009EE2

I get it when I reboot and things will load to a point and then stop. I've had to reboot numerous times to get things to finally load right. I rebooted into safe mode and it changed my display settings and when I finally got them changed back, the colors aren't just right at times. I read something about extracting drivers off of the Win98 disk, but didn't do that since the post didn't apply specifically to my error. Most of what I've seen has to do with NTKERN not loading properly errors.

Please help before I pull my hair out...the headache is already bad enough...lol

Thanks Jim...some of those sites look familiar, but maybe I didn't look far enough. I will look at them again.
