FAT needs repair

    My friend's computer is an old one, but I hope to get it running. I need to get the FAT repaired for Win95, but can't get Scandisk to run in DOS. Says it needs Windows to run but I can't get Windows to run because it wants to run Scandisk and locks up when it gets to the FAT. Need some real help on this one!!

    Boot to a WIN9X start up disk and try fdisk /mbr.
